Invasive species removal action (School/NPOs)

Target: Schools (P.6 or above) or non-profit organizations
Number of participants: 15-24 per group (including leader)
Gathering and dismissal point: Tai Po Market MTR station
Transportation: Round-trip shuttle buses between Tai Po Market MTR Station and Sha Lo Tung will be provided.
Guided tour language: Cantonese
Fee: Free of charge
Application deadlines: 16 Sep, 2024 (Monday)
Confirmation email: 20 September, 2024 or before
(All applicants will receive email notifications regardless of the acceptance or rejection of the registration)


Date: Customizable (From Oct to Dec 2024)
Time: Morning session: 09:30 - 12:30 or
Afternoon session: 13:30 - 16:30 (including transportation time)

Content:
  • Understand the ecological impacts of invasive species
  • Understand the impacts of Mikania and Apple Snails on wetlands in Sha Lo Tung
  • Removal of Mikania and Apple Snails
Important Notes:
  • Participants should be aged 11 or above.
  • Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by leader(s).
  • Tools for the removal action (e.g. gloves, spatulas, mesh screens, etc.) will be provided.
  • The activity involves walking in marshes and wetlands, it is recommended to bring your own water boots. Knee-high waterproof shoe covers will also be available for lent.
  • Further event details will be provided upon confirmation of registration.
  • The organizer reserves the right to final acceptance of applicants.
