Mammals are another group of animals of concern in Sha Lo Tung. At least 16 species of mammals have been recorded there, including Indian Muntjac (Muntiacus muntjak), Leopard Cat (Prionailurus bengalensis), Small Indian Civet (Viverricula indica), Crab-eating Mongoose (Herpestes urva) and Malayan Porcupine (Hystrix brachyura). Illegal poaching is currently threatening the survival of these mammals.
